Birmingham, England
This two-day event will be held at the BCEC, Birmingham and brings together specialists and consultants in infection, as well as trainees, including microbiology, virology, clinical infectious diseases, public health, antimicrobial pharmacists, biomedical students and infection prevention and control practitioners to explore the latest developments in infection medicine.
The BIA Spring Meeting 2026 features a high-quality scientific programme and provides a vital forum for sharing research, clinical experience, and best practice in infectious diseases. The programme includes expert-led plenary sessions, oral abstract presentations, case discussions, and trainee-focused content, highlighting both cutting-edge research and real-world clinical challenges. The meeting is also endorsed by the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID).
We are also delighted that Professor Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer for England, will deliver a ‘Special Lecture’ on Wednesday 20th of May, discussing key insights from his 2025 Annual Report on infections and offering unique insights into infection medicine and public health at a national level.
We hope that as many people as possible can join us in person and everyone is welcome to attend both days. We have a virtual option for those who cannot attend in person. The programme sessions include:
- Challenges of leading and managing a laboratory as a clinician
- Advancements of therapeutics in TB
- Lyme disease essentials
- Microbiology & Infection in Maternity Services
- DecodeME: The genetics of ME/CFS
and more! For registration information and to view the programme: fitwise.eventsair.com/biaspringmeeting2026/registration-and-fees
